A longtime promoter of purebred cattle and national junior livestock programs will be the Kansas State Fair Foundation s first executive director.
James Fisher, 57, currently of Dallas, but a longtime St. Joseph, Mo., resident, started in the post on Monday.
Fisher, in Hutchinson this week, said he plans to relocate here.
Fisher s hiring indicates a shift in the work and the makeup of the 18-year-old foundation that s been in process for more than a year after some Kansas State Fairboard members moved to create a competing foundation that it could control.
Fisher’s experience in nonprofit management, grant acquisition, and donor relations, combined with his experience in agriculture, make him a natural fit for the position, foundation officials stated in a news release.
