Abigail J. Blink, a junior from West Chester, Ohio. She is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. Blink works as a student manager for the UNO Men s Basketball team. After graduation, she intends to work for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.
Gerard Gerarve III, a sophomore from Mandeville, Louisiana. He is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and was a representative for the STEM Living and Learning Community at UNO in 2019. Gerarve wants to pursue a career in the design of cruise ships.

The Navy faces a conundrum in renovating its centuries-old public shipyards.
On one hand, the sooner the yards are redesigned with more efficient layouts and overhauled to have the latest tools and machines, the sooner yard employees can start repairing submarines and aircraft carriers at a faster pace and dig out of the maintenance backlog that plagued the sea service throughout the last decade.

The Navy envisions a future fleet with manned and unmanned ships, submarines and aircraft operating in a dispersed manner and collecting a ton of data to fill in a common operating picture – which operational commanders could then use to, if ever needed, have the best sensor platform send targeting data to the best shooter to attack an enemy.
