Maj-Britt S. Traynor
Maj-Britt S. Traynor, 95, of Bemus Point, N.Y., passed away peacefully in her home on Monday April 5, 2021.
Maj-Britt was born in Varmland, Sweden on May 7, 1925. She immigrated to the United States with her parents, Carl Oscar Anderson and Linnea S. Gustafson Anderson in 1931 and like so many others grew up as a proud Swedish-American in Jamestown, N.Y.
After moving to Bemus Point, N.Y. she was graduated from Bemus Point Central School in 1944. She continued her education attending Alfred University and Jamestown Business College. She served as Youth Ambassador to Finland, US representative to Operation Democracy in Denmark, served on the New York State Town Affiliation Committee, and the Young Adult Civic Council. Building community and bringing people together was very important to her throughout her life, especially evident as a member of the Sister Cities Affiliation Program. Way back in 1990, a chap from Alicante named Miguel Pernas had a dream. To take darts in Spain to an international level. And so the FED, or Federación Española de Dardos was born.
Miguel managed to create a national championships in a large country and unite the many leagues operating independently throughout Spain, every year sending the national champions to the Winmau World Masters and the World Championship Qualifiers. He did this on a shoestring budget for many years before handing over the reins to younger blood 5 years ago, realising that darts the “old way“had come as far as it could go. Since then Spanish darts has seen more and more home grown players take to the international stage.

On Saturday, September 12th, at 2 p.m., graduates joined together with family, friends, and community at Christ Fellowship Church in Hannibal to celebrate the earning of their High School Equivalency diplomas, formerly known as the GED. There were nine graduates this year, with six in attendance. Graduates beamed with pride as, Darcia Miller, test administrator and orientation leader, called their names to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas.
âThe support of family, friends, and community plays a large role in student success,â said Elise Burch, HiSET Teacher at the Missouri Career Center.
