Overnight blaze leaves 10 families homeless; 9 structures gutted

Srinagar, July 27: At least 10 families were rendered homeless after 5 residential houses and 4 wooden sheds were damaged in a massive fire that broke out in the Palpora area of Noorbagh in Srinagar last night.
Officials told Excelsior that the cause of the fire was an electric short circuit due to which the fire emerged from one of the houses and engulfed at least 5 houses and 4 sheds during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.
“A total of 9 structures were involved in the fire incident which includes 4 single-storied and 1 double storied residential houses as well as 4 sheds,” the officials said.

LAHORE: Five terrorists belonging to banned organisation Daesh were arrested by Counter-Terrorism Department Lahore Tuesday in an IBO (Intelligence-Based Operation) conducted in Lahore Region.
Hate material was also recovered. CTD Team Lahore received credible information that members of the Daesh were present near Bhatta Chowk, Lahore. On this information, CTD Team raided the place and arrested five terrorists namely: Nazifullah, Ziaur Rehman, Muhammad Ishtiaq, Abdul Rehman Butt and Malik Kashif. These terrorists were distributing hate material among people and collecting funds for their organisation. Forty banned books, terrorism funds, two receipts of Daesh have been recovered from their possession. Investigation has been started after registering an FIR at CTD Police Station.
LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday smashed a cell of Daesh, the banned so-called Islamic State (IS), operating from Lahore and arrested its five members from Bhatta Chowk near the Defence Housing Authority.
The five Pakistani militants, all hailing from Sialkot, were distributing hate material, inviting people to join Daesh and collecting funds for the terrorist outfit’s operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The alleged militants were identified as Nazifullah, Ziaur Rehman, Muhammad Ishtiaq, Abdul Rehman Butt and Malik Kashif.
A CTD spokesperson said the department had received a tip-off about the militants.
According to the FIR, the suspects were arrested from Masjid Tauheed Ahle Sunna at Farooq Azam Chowk of Nadirabad. One of the alleged militants was carrying a receipt book with printed Daesh monogram and hate material. The militant had issued receipts from serial No 801 to 810 at the time when the CTD team arrested him. The team recovered Rs12,0

SRINAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint through ACB Whatsapp helpline from the complainant alleging therein that construction of road under MGNREGA Scheme worth Rs. 142223/- was allotted to him on 12.08.2020, which was completed by the complainant. He has received only Rs. 118309/- out of the estimated amount. Rest of the amount i.e., Rs.23914/- is yet to be released. He approached the concerned Office, for releasing of the same, the I/c Supervisor, namely, Abdul Rehman Bhat demanded bribe for releasing of the same.
