Flat Rock News: Flat Rock council hears from residents at first town hall

“Let’s have a conversation. Let’s see what’s on your mind,” Flat Rock Mayor Nick Weedman said as he opened the meeting at Pinecrest Presbyterian Church. About 25 residents attended the meeting, the first in a series of town halls the Village Council plans to hold in coming months. The widening project on North Highland Lake Road was on the minds of several residents who questioned Weedman and council members. They wanted to know when construction will likely begin, how long it will take, how many lanes will be added to the two-lane road and if the road will impact the Park at Flat Rock.

Henderson County News: Digital sign raises awareness of new speed limit

Anne Coletta, Flat Rock s vice mayor, told the Village Council Thursday that she met with Henderson County Sheriff s Capt. Brandon Staton about the situation. We had some complaints and some phone calls from residents about the change in the speed limit not being recognized by everyone and some speeding and some tailgating, Coletta said. Staton told her that sheriff s office would place a digital speed limit sign on Greenville Highway to remind people of the speed limit, which the NCDOT lowered from 35 to 25 mph in February at the Village Council s request. This week sheriff s office placed the device to clock and display the speed of northbound traffic as it approaches Little Rainbow Row. Then they ll move it to around the Playhouse to clock the speed of southbound vehicles.
