Shelby County Schools rehiring five top academic leadership positions

Shelby County Schools is hiring seven new top-level positions this summer, including two cabinet-level positions, as part of an academic restructuring district superintendent Joris Ray began this spring. At the cabinet level, that will include a chief of schools, a position that has been vacant for most of Ray s superintendency. The district is also fresh starting the position for the chief academic officer. Four of the other positions are already occupied, Ray said in a recent interview, and include executive directors of equity, of curriculum and instruction and of professional learning, as well as a director of leadership development. Ray is also hiring for a human resources director of talent acquisition, induction and development, a new position.
