Anthony McDonnell is an economist at think tank Centre for Global Development who has been looking at the problem since last year. He suggests, amongst other things, one limit is the human expertise in manufacturing these brand-new technologies, with another being a level of vaccine nationalism that is seeing a lack of exports of components involved in manufacture.

Anthony McDonnell burgled the Machine Mart on Hawleys Lane in Dallam on October 9 last year and took DeWalt tools valued at £443.99 from inside. On October 13, he returned to the same shop and took another £646.79 of goods. The 37-year-old, of Bardsley Avenue in Dallam, had only just been released from a ‘lengthy’ custodial sentence at the time of the offences. McDonnell admitted two counts of burglary and was handed a 24-week imprisonment suspended for two years at Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 7.
