President Lazarus Chakwera is set to appoint Ombudsman Martha Chizuma as new director general of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) subject to confirmation by Parliament’s Public Appointments Committee (PAC) and expects to get a full in-tray of the graft-dogged Tonse Alliance government.

Chizuma has reportedly emerged the top candidate for the post of ACB czar and is set to its first female head.

Retired Justice of Appeal Anthony Kamanga, Ombudsman Martha Chizuma and private practice lawyer Wellington Kazembe have been shortlisted from a list of candidates attended interview last weekend for the position of director general of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The names have been submitted to Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo and the list will be forwarded to the President to choose one candidate who will be subjected to confirmation by the Public Appointments Committee of parliament.
The final list of three were picked out of 37 applicants including ACB’s top investigator Dan Mponda, Geoff Chikuta, Linda Mzumara, Felix Tandwe, Chris Khunga and Fenwick Kamanga.
