A genetics research lab working on a groundbreaking cure ends up creating a virus that changes life as we know it. Sounds familiar? Well, it’s also the story behind “Sweet Tooth,” Netflix’s latest series adapted from the 2009 comic book series by Jeff Lemire.
For the unfamiliar, Jeff Lemire has an Eisner award (the comic book equivalent of the Academy Awards) whose titles have spanned their own, different worlds. My personal favorites are “Royal City” and his breakthrough hit “Essex County,” both of which he wrote and illustrated, featuring stories that weave unique emotional tapestries, a profound understanding of characters and the relationships around them
Netflix has released the full
Sweet Tooth trailer for Jim Mickle’s upcoming series adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s DC comic book of the same name. The video provides us a better idea of what to expect from this post-apocalyptic fairytale highlighting a hybrid who’s half-human and half-deer as he embarks on a dangerous journey toward a safe haven for hybrids, with the help of a gruff protector. Executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, the series is scheduled to make its debut on June 4, 2021. Check out the video in the player below!

But on Thursday, the light at the end of the tunnel was as bright as the sun with Netflix releasing the first teaser trailer and preview images for its eight-episode, live-action series adaptation from Team Downey s
Robert Downey Jr. and
Amanda Burrell, and
Linda Moran. Set to premiere on June 4, the series introduces viewers to Gus (
Christian Convery)- part deer, part boy- who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.
