WILLACOOCHEE, Ga. (WALB) - A man was taken into custody after an hours-long hostage situation ended in Willacoochee, according to the Atkinson County Sheriffâs Office.
The sheriffâs office said it happened after 4 p.m. on West Mccranie Avenue.
Law enforcement said a man had a disagreement with another family member and took them hostage.
The state SWAT team was called and the sheriffâs office maintained a conversation with the man until he came outside.

ATKINSON CO., Ga. (WALB) - If you drive through Atkinson County, plan your route ahead of time. Thatâs because nearly 30 roads are damaged.
The countyâs EMA Director, Robbie Stone, tells us the road department is working to fix the damage
The flooding messed up about 27 roads and two highways. Many of the roads were completely washed out.
âIt was reported they had nine and a half inches of rain in the north-western corner of Atkinson County within just a few hours. Our bridge count highway which is a major artery from Atkinson to Colquitt County is going to remain closed probably for at least an another month,â said Stone.
