U.S. Congress members from California and local elected officials alike expressed disappointment following a recent Federal Aviation Administration announcement indicating the agency will not change flight paths over the Bay Area to abate airplane noise for many residents.
In a joint statement issued July 23, U.S. Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-18th District), Jackie Speier (D-14th District) and Jimmy Panetta (D-20th District) noted how members of a local committee tasked with making recommendations to the FAA about routes, or procedures, worked âtirelesslyâ for nine months to do so but to no avail.
âIt has taken the FAA 55 months to respond in full to the recommendations,â the three representatives wrote. âThere is no excuse for why it has taken this long, despite our best efforts to engage directly with multiple FAA Administrators spanning three Administrations.â
