First Women s Nordic Combined crystal globe awarded after inaugural season

Monday, 1 March 2021 United States’ Tara Geraghty-Moats has received the inaugural Women’s Nordic Combined World Cup crystal globe after a COVID-19 impacted opening season. Geraghty-Moats triumphed at the Women s Nordic Combined World Cup event in December, which was held in Ramsau. Ramsau stepped in to host the event after competition was unable to take place at Lillehammer in Norway, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition proved to be the only one held during the inaugural World Cup season, with two competitions at Otepää in Estonia cancelled in January. Two further planned events in Schonach in Germany were also unable to take place.

The men will begin with their Individual Gundersen event on Friday, while the Nordic Combined women will have their historic World Championship premiere on Saturday.
