SUBANG JAYA, April 12 I've been on the hunt for an authentic Penang style asam laksa for some time. Most of the ones sold at the stalls tend to use ikan kembung and they don't flake the fish. Hence I was very happy to discover this home-based seller from the MY Food Directory & Delivery C19.
BANGKOK, April 4 (Bernama): The inaugural Penang Street Food Festival in Bangkok on Saturday (April 3) that offered a wide range of Penang fare was a huge hit.
The festival had 12 booths selling the island’s best traditional and authentic dishes such as Char Kuey Teow, Nasi Kandar, Penang White Curry Noodle, Asam Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Mee Udang, Pasembur, Chee Cheong Fun, Rojak Buah, and Sotong Kangkung at a hotel here.
Besides these, much-loved Malaysian dishes Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai, the popular Teh Tarik drink as well as traditional desserts like the Muruku, Bingka Ubi (tapioca cake), Cucur Badak, Kuih Ketayap were also available at the event.
My earliest memory of Sea Park, or Seksyen 21, in Petaling Jaya all those years ago is the novelty of having nasi lemak at night in a back alley. Bumbung Nasi Lemak is still a popular late-night supper spot whose business extends from the five-foot way of corner shop Restoran Sun Fatt Kee to the entire length of the alleyway, which would be lined with plastic tables and chairs by dusk and ready for its patrons that keep coming back for the purveyor’s staples nasi lemak and Indomie ayam.
In addition to Bumbung Nasi Lemak, the commercial area in Sea Park bounded by Jalan 21/1, Jalan 21/21, Jalan 21/22 and Jalan 21/11, and on Jalan 21/12 is home to a vast array of rave-worthy eats, many of which have become popular over the years.
