DOH to subsidize indigent patients costs in eight Metro Manila private hospitals

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 20)  The Health Department vowed to pay for indigent patients medical costs in eight private hospitals in Metro Manila.
This, as government hospitals struggle to accommodate mostly poor patients amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Patients who live below the poverty line usually rely on state services as they don t have the means to pay for private medication.
DOH Metro Manila Dir. Dr. Gloria Balboa said they can apply under the Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients (MAIP) program.
The agency currently has a Memorandum of Agreement with the following private hospitals in five cities in the National Capital Region: ....

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go led the unveiling of the Malasakit Center at the Carcar Provincial Hospital.
The Malasakit Center at the Carcar Provincial Hospital, a level one facility with 50 hospital beds, is the sixth in Cebu.
The other Malasakit Centers in Cebu can be found in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (Cebu City), Eversley Child Sanitarium and General Hospital (Mandaue City), St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital (Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital (Lapu-Lapu City) and Cebu South Medical Center (Talisay City).
Overall, there are 23 Malasakit Centers in Visayas, 56 in Luzon and 24 in Mindanao. ....

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in many patients deferring regular checkups and treatment sessions with their doctor. These interruptions in healthcare have been affecting the health and quality of life of our cancer patients.
