Ford in December released its annual Trends Report, which, hey, real surprise here, focused on issues relative to the pandemic. The 2021 Ford Trends Report surveyed 13,005 people across 14 countries, finding among other things that 69 percent of adults feel overwhelmed by the state of the world. That’s not too nice.
“As we barrel into 2021 and look forward to a post-pandemic world, it’s clear that the changes brought about by COVID-19 have changed us but to what degree?” said Sheryl Connelly, global consumer trends and futuring manager for Ford. “Ford and other companies are keenly interested to know what changes will stick long after COVID is in our rearview mirror. And while no one can predict the future, that doesn’t mean we can’t prepare for it.”

2020 has been a year no one saw coming. Covid-19 has wrought economic, political and emotional chaos, testing the limits of individuals, families, healthcare systems and whole sectors of societies.
Yet, as the ninth annual Looking Further with Ford Trends Report highlights, the global pandemic also reveals just how resilient people can be in finding ways to cope and adapt.
“As we barrel into 2021 and look forward to a post-pandemic world, it’s clear that the changes brought about by Covid-19 have changed us – but to what degree?” says Sheryl Connelly, global consumer trends and futuring manager for Ford Motor Company.
Ford Survey Finds Consumers Adapting to Pandemic Personal transportation is flourishing during the pandemic. Bike sales have soared, and cities have shut down streets to make space for cyclists. Car sales have boomed, and smart city planning is accelerating, according to Ford s study.
More than two-thirds of respondents to a global survey say they feel overwhelmed by the changes taking place in the world during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fifty-three percent of the 13,005 participating adults in the U.S. and 13 other countries said adapting to changes during the pandemic has been “harder than I imagined” and 47% said adapting has been “easier than I imagined,” according to the 2021 Further with Ford Trends Report.

In fact, some of the changes could be pretty big.
So I talked about it with Sheryl Connelly. She’s Ford Motor Company’s head futurist and they just released their Ford Trends report. Here’s a link:
