Fairmont State appoints new foundation board members

SUBMITTED PHOTO FAIRMONT — Fairmont State University is keeping its foundation s board in the family with new members, four university alumni and an previous member of the board of governors. Friday, Fairmont State announced it was appointing five new members to the board of directors for its nonprofit arm, the Fairmont State Foundation. The foundation handles all private donations that come in to the university. Among the new appointees are Kathy Martin, K. Alex Miller II, Chad Riley, John Wilson and Dixie Yann. All of whom have previous ties to the university either as an alumni or through previous board positions within the institution.

The Fairmont State University Black Student Union Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship, which was created by the BSU alumni organization, will be available to active, participating members of Fairmont State University’s Black Student Union.

Fairmont State alum s company donates $50,000 to scholarship program

Hutson FAIRMONT — A Birmingham, Alabama-based company co-founded by a Fairmont State University alum has committed to fund scholarships at the school for the next five years. Diversified Gas & Oil Co., whose chief executive officer and co-founder is Fairmont State University graduate and board of governors member Rusty Hutson Jr., has committed an additional $50,000 to assist Fairmont State students. “Diversified Gas & Oil strongly believes in supporting students who attend colleges in our operating areas and that are seeking to start careers in the gas and oil or related industries,” said Brad Gray, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We believe that the energy sector in the United States is strong and that it is a driver of economic prosperity for millions of people in the country.
