Feedback sought on set of 65 recommendations developed by Roadmap 2020 Task Force By Hub staff report / Published May 28, 2021
Johns Hopkins University unveiled a set of draft recommendations Monday that will lay the foundation for the next iteration of the JHU Roadmap on Diversity and Inclusion, which since 2016 has served as the university s guiding document and accountability framework for advancing equity and inclusion.
The 65 recommendations cover a range of topics faculty diversity and staff advancement, community and alumni engagement, student support and success, training and development, and institutional accountability. They were developed by the 43-member Roadmap 2020 Task Force and seven working groups made up of 162 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners.

As he was preparing to return to the Hopkins campus for the spring semester, junior Christopher Crespo worried about his ability to find internship opportunities this summer. An international studies and economics major, he had concerns about how his skills in the classroom would translate to the real world. I needed guidance, he said; he kept repeating one question. What skills are employers actually looking for?
To prepare himself, Crespo turned to a new Johns Hopkins resource, OneHop, in order to connect with alumni who might be able to help. There he met Samantha Flick, Associate Manager of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs at PepsiCo, who shepherded him through the often-confusing process of finding the right role for his skills.

I ve seen how fast people s professional lives can fall apart, especially during the pandemic, says Azmi, who is a second-year international studies and sociology major at Johns Hopkins. During quarantine, I was asking myself, have I been too selfish thinking about doing what I want to do?
