Although they might not have shown up at your door on any recent Saturday morning, Jehovah’s Witnesses are still around and ready to offer hope to all those they encounter.
“Even though our knocking has gone quiet, our love remains very much alive,” said Robert Hendriks, national spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The Christian denomination, with 54 Columbus-area congregations, is known for going door-to-door to evangelize and for having informational carts on city streets.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, public ministries by Witnesses have been suspended for the first time since many of them began years ago, Hendriks said. Instead, Witnesses are reaching out through phone calls and letters, he said.
