LONDONDERRY â Itâs difficult to imagine a rendition of âFire on the Mountainâ not creating a big moment at a festival where bands will be playing songs by and inspired by Grateful Dead on the hill of a local ski resort.
Joe Levy, owner of Whirlygig Music, organized the Dead of Summer Music Festival Two around bands who play from the Dead catalog or songs the Dead covered. He wanted not only different performers from the initial festival but bands with different styles of interpreting the music.
The festival first occurred at One More Time in West Dover in 2019. Levy said he tried to make that happen again this year but the timing wasnât good.

The Land of Milk & Honey: A History of Beekeeping in Vermont, Bill Mares and Ross Conrad note that the state s very first beekeeping association was established in Middlebury in 1875. They write that Addison County exemplified the matrix between bees, forage, fruits, and dairy cattle, which gave the area the reputation of a land of milk and honey.

This past weekend, Vermont jam quartet Twiddle returned to the stage for the first time in 2021 for a pair of special live stream concerts from The Double E in Essex, VT. Hosted in partnership with Fiddlehead Brewing, the virtual events featured carefully curated setlists, highlighting individual chapters of the band’s sixteen-year history. Performing a few short miles from Castleton, the rustic college town where the band started, the shows were a masterful depiction of the evolution of the signature sound Twiddle continues to refine.
The band kicked off night one (3/11/21) with a first set comprised of fan-favorite tracks from their 2017 release Plump Chapter One.
