红光古天乐小学位于虾子镇兰生村。据村民介绍，校名之所以有红光
二字，是因为以前这里叫红光村，后来几个村子合并后改名兰生村，面积约 35 平方公里，登记人口约 8000
人，是该镇最大的自然村。
《中国慈善家》在现场看到，红光古天乐小学主教学楼有两层，旁边有一座平房，作为学生食堂。
这里的设施确实如传言中的那样荒废破败，教室门口杂草丛生，学校的两扇铁门也是锈迹斑斑，用一条链锁松散地绑在一起。

学校门口碑记上的信息显示，红光古天乐小学经遵义县教育局、遵义市政府智力支边办与慈恩基金会联系，由香港古天乐先生捐资
18 万元港币，遵义县人民政府匹配资金 63 万元人民币建成，工程于 2009 年 12 月 18 日奠基，2010 年 6 月 18
