an east bay family is praying their little girl will be okay, after she was shot sitting in a car with her mother. that girl survived the shooting, but is in the hospital right now. this shooting happened at 66th and outlook in east oakland near mills college. laura anthony is there live and begins our team coverage on this. laura? police do not think this little girl was the intended target. but that someone with her may have been. they re looking into whether this shooting today may have been related to a murder yesterday. it s horrible. it s awful. it s the most kind of awful you could imagine. the mother of a young son claire stanley says the sounds were unmistakable. and way too close to her mills mont neighborhood home in east oakland. there was a pause and probably another four. right after the last gunshot i heard a car peeling away. another neighbor heard it too, but didn t want us to show her face. i heard five or six gunshots and they sounded very c
left significant damage, but also claimed the lives of at least three people, two were killed in car crashes today. a taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and plunged into thoakland river. it happened near the michigan exit where a tree fell on a woman. est ware it happened in san francisco. a piece of scaffolding fell down on 7th and market streets where police closed a part of market. another scaffolding collapse happened around 3:00 this afternoon in california near spruce. no one was hurt. and also south of market fierce winds toppled a tree near 7th and bryant. it came down on two cars and you can see the broken limbs, branches, and leaves were resting on the tops of those dented vehicles. and one of several trees that blew down in novato fell right on top of third street and grant. no one was inside that truck and no one was hurt. the tree also pulled down two to three power poles knocking out power to more than 2,000 customers. not far from there a second tree

country. a lot of people from the bay area are here in washington to take part in the inauguration, some are here in support of donald trump, and many others are here to protest his presidency, even as he begins his first term tomorrow. there are also others from the bay area, who happen to be here for another reason. and talking about the mayor s conference that was attended by a number of bay area mayors. including sam lacardo of san jose. he came here to meet with mayors around the country to discuss all the issues they deal with at the local level. crime, education issues, budgeting issues and so much more. we had a chance to speak this afternoon on the streets of washington. as a region we can show the country that ideological differences don t mean we have to have divided communities. would you like to see more of that at the national level? we certainly would, but i know there s a different dynamic that works inside the beltway, than at home. and frankly, i m i
