Film review: 300: Rise of an Empire

The Cascade your username   Eight years ago, director Zach Synder introduced us to a world of battles, legends, and oiled eight-pack abs. His adaptation of Frank Millar’s graphic novel was an entertaining film for its amazing CG work, the intensity of the action scenes, and the ridiculous physique of its Spartan warriors. While it was severely overblown, it presented itself as a Greek storyteller might have done, exaggerated and morphed into something forcibly inspiring. Now, with Rise of an Empire, we are told the story of Themistocles, the often forgotten naval commander who made the Spartans’ three-day stand of Thermopylae possible.

B.C.-born singer lends voice to highly-anticipated Zack Snyder Justice League film

Posted: Mar 07, 2021 10:00 AM PT | Last Updated: March 7 After years of fervent campaigning by fans, director Zack Snyder’s cut of the Justice League movie will be released March 18 on HBO Max.(Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. via The Associated Press) A Nanaimo-born singer who posted her cover of the Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah online over a decade ago will have her vocals featured in the upcoming DC comics superhero saga  Zack Snyder s Justice League after the filmmaker himself, who has a deep personal connection to the song, saw her video and contacted her. Allison Crowe posted the video of herself singing the iconic Canadian tune to YouTube in 2006. The song, according to Crowe, was Snyder s daughter Autumn s favourite which may be why it caught his attention. Snyder tried to fit it into his 2009 film
