The time for NFL teams to designate players with the franchise tag is fast approaching. Once those tags are placed the free agent picture will become a bit more clear. The only player likely to be in the discussion for a franchise tag with the Jets is Marcus Maye. That would probably be a good use of the tag, as it may be less expensive to tag Maye than to sign him to an extension. Unless Maye is amenable to a team friendly extension, I would consider tagging Maye twice, then letting him test free agency in 2023. By then Maye will be 30 years old and it will probably be a good time to part ways. ....
