Israeli forces pushed deeper into the southern Gaza Strip’s largest city Wednesday, surrounding two major hospitals where thousands of people were seeking safety as a strike on a United Nations shelter killed at least nine people, according to U.N. officials and local health officials.
Hundreds of thousands of people, most of them already displaced by the war, are in the evacuation zone, part of the city of Khan Younis, the United Nations said.
