It’s just over 1 year on from our first BYOV event last January, despite the Coronavirus we have managed to continue to grow the event, and are now pleased to be hosting our 6th event at El Nido. Unfortunately we will be without co-founder Xiaoshui who has returned to the US to pursue her studies, but she will continue to lend her support and be with us in spirit. Along with myself and Bill (DJ ADDJ) we welcome a familiar and popular face to our host DJ line-up, Yunnan’s Strawberry Papa. We look forward to seeing you all for our one year anniversary and the first event in the year of the cow. ....

He started out as a member of the Communist Party and eventually became a reporter for a state news service. But his viewpoint changed in 1989 after he saw the Party’s crackdown on student protesters in Tiananmen Square. He used his access to primary sources as a Communist Party member and began putting together a book on the famines associated with the Great Leap Forward. That book, titled Tombstone, was an unsparing account of what led to the deaths of more than 30 million people, was published in 2008 and translated into English four years later. ....
