Vermont Business Magazine Six nonprofit organizations in New Hampshire and Vermont will receive much needed funds to help those they serve make informed financial decisions through a set of grants announced by Citizens today. Under the bank’s
Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money program, these nonprofit organizations will receive a total of more than $107,000 to support work in this critical area across the states.
As part of the Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money program, the bank this year will provide $1.5 million in contributions to more than 105 nonprofits in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. The initiative helps the community by supporting programs that give people the confidence and tools they need to budget, save, invest, be financially healthy and inspire them to pursue their goals.

Granite United Way is raising money for another COVID-19 relief fund after raising $1 million last year.
The previous campaign raised enough to help 5,000 Granite Staters who were struggling to make ends meet. This year, the goal is to raise $250,000 to $500,000 over the next two to three months and then get the money into the hands of those who need help as quickly as possible.Sign up for our Newsletters The vaccines are rolling out and it looks hopeful, but we know that people are still struggling, said Erica Brooks, of NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire.

The Currier Museum of Art in Manchester has completed the purchase of the 19th century George Byron Chandler House, which sits across the street from the museum. “The Chandler House is one of the most beautiful Victorian houses in New Hampshire but has been almost unknown,” said Stephen Duprey, president of the museum’s board of trustees. “We can now begin the challenging job of restoring the house so that it can be enjoyed by the community.” The main floor of the house features stained glass windows, original wallpaper and fine wood carving. These areas will be open to the public as an expansion of the museum, specifically to represent New Hampshire in the 19th century. The Chandler House joins the museum’s two houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in presenting the architectural heritage of the region.
