[ applause ] i think last year i introduced him as the long suffering ted dotty, and that continues until today. You know, ted still misses his garden we had at the other house, and his darkroom, but he is adjusting to our new home by adding some personal touches. He has taken an interest in putting the cedar back into cedar crest with the planting of new trees. He also started a vegetable garden. And he even has his own compost pile. And dont any of you go there. [ laughter ] in addition to all of that, he continues to Practice Medicine fulltime, so ted and i have settled into life at the governors residence. In fact, it was the backdrop for our familys biggest news of 2019. It was a joy to watch our daughter kathleen wed our new soninlaw mathias at cedar crest earlier this year, with our younger daughter molly standing by he
Efforts to combat the Opioid Epidemic. Public Health Officials from five states testified on prescription take backs, needle exchanges, and access to opioid overdose drugs. Subcommittee of oversight investigations is holding a hearing entitled a Public Health emergency, state efforts to curb the Opioid Crisis. The purpose of todays hearing is to examine state efforts and successes addressing the Opioid Epidemic as well as opportunities for future support. Just to let everyone know, the reason were getting a little late, the plane was delayed but now dr. Scott is on her way. So, we will swear in the witnesses when we get to that point. If we have to do that one later, we will. The chairman will now recognize herself for an Opening Statement. Youve all been thoroughly welcomed this morning but i want to give a special shout out to a few people in the course ive got to start with first Lady Catherine and her family members she spirit their sister julie and her cousin lisa and watching on line to the rest of our rest of our extended families and their sons joe and tom and her daughter jesse and their extended families.
