Santa Cruz's Black Civil War veteran | Ross Eric Gibson, Local History – Santa Cruz Sentinel

Henry L. Barnett was almost forgotten, lacking a headstone, until researcher Kenneth G. Felton of Castro Valley, discovered this veteran. On Saturday at Santa Cruz Memorial Park (the old Odd Fellows Cemetery), the Sons of Union Veterans will give Barnett a full military ceremony to dedicate his headstone.
