When Island Line closes this weekend, marking the start of three months of work and the arrival of replacement trains, the workhorses of the network will retire. A project worth £26m, funded by the Department for Transport, Isle of Wight Council and the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership will see the renovation of the line that carries Islanders and tourists to home, work, school and on holiday.
