After the pipeline cyber attack, some gas stations in the southeastern United States ran out of fuel
On Wednesday, the fuel shortage situation in the southeastern United States further deteriorated because the largest fuel pipeline network in the United States was closed to the sixth day, and the supply of gas stations in some cities was already in short supply.
Last week, a ransomware attack on colonial pipelines caused the US energy infrastructure to suffer the most destructive cyber attack, stopping 2.5 million barrels of fuel every day. The pipeline extends from refineries on the Gulf Coast of the United States to consumers in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states, covering a total of 8,850 kilometers. ....

Leaders Summit on Climate
On April 22-23 President Biden hosted the Leaders Summit on Climate, a virtual event intended to underscore the urgency – and the economic benefits – of stronger climate action. 40 world leaders were invited to participate in the summit, which the White House billed as a key milestone on the road to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) this November in Glasgow. The event also included leaders and representatives from international organizations, businesses, subnational governments, and indigenous communities.
A key takeaway was President Biden’s announcement that the U.S. will commit to target reducing emissions by 50-52 percent by 2030 compared to 2005 levels. Other key U.S. commitments include: ....

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded US$19 million for 13 projects in traditionally fossil fuel-producing communities across the country to support the production of rare earth elements and critical minerals vital to the manufacturing of batteries, magnets, and other components important to the clean energy economy. Facing persistent shortages in domestic supply, the US has been forced to rely on imported materials, leaving clean energy technology production at greater risk of disruption.
“The very same fossil fuel communities that have powered our nation for decades can be at the forefront of the clean energy economy by producing the critical minerals needed to build electric vehicles, wind turbines, and so much more,” said Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm. “By building clean energy products here at home, we’re securing the supply chain for the innovative solutions needed to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 – all while cr ....
