Thousands of people in lebanon have attended a Memorial Service in the ruins of the Port Of Beirut to mark the first anniversary of a huge explosion that devastated much of city. The blast was one of the biggest non nuclear explosions in history. It killed more than 200 people. Outside the lebanese parliament, the Security Forces fired Tear Gas at stone throwing protesters. Along with the grief, theres real anger that a year on nobody has been held to account for the explosion. Rights campaigners allege that the most senior officials in lebanon were aware of the danger posed by the huge quantity of Ammonium Nitrate Fertiliser stored in the port that caused the explosion. The blast plunged lebanon into a deeper crisis, but the country had already been facing serious problems for years due to the dire economy and political instability. Carine torbey reports.
