'You saved my life' - NHS staff thanked year on from first Covid patient in Worcestershire

RESIDENTS have thanked NHS staff for their hard work and dedication one year on from the first Covid patient being admitted to hospital in the county. A post on the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s Facebook page on March 11, said: “One year ago today, we admitted the first patient with Covid-19 to our hospital. “Since that day, we’ve seen more than 3,000 patients with Coronavirus, with the majority discharged home to their families. “But the virus has not gone away and although there are signs of hope, our staff are still working flat out to provide the best care for patients with and without Covid.”

'Amazing lady' celebrates 100th birthday at Stourport care home

Staff and residents celebrated the incredible life of Doreen Gordon on Tuesday, March 2. Mrs Gordon was born in Southampton in 1921 and served as a nurse at the city s hospital during the Second World War. Doreen Gordon celebrating her 100th birthday at The Wharf Care Home in Stourport It was here that she had to help to evacuate her patients when the hospital was destroyed with incendiary bombs. Mrs Gordon met her husband, who was a doctor at the hospital, and the pair married in 1943. After the war, they lived in Oxford before settling in Bewdley with their two children in 1952.
