middle income earners as well as low earners will need government help to pay energy bills this winter. it comes as another minister defended the decision to wait until a new prime minister is in place before any announcement on further support is made. yesterday, the regulator ofgem confirmed a dramatic 80% rise in the energy price cap from october, taking the average annual household bill to more than £3,500. earlier, i spoke to lisa rodgers who s a teacher she told me about how she ll be impacted by the energy price rise. i have two children, i am a single parent and, yeah, this is really scary. the moneyjust isn t there, and i am classed as one of these middle earners. just tell me about what your energy bills are at the moment. how much are they now? how much will they go up by? do you have any idea? well, i was paying £88 a month but that was on a fixed rate. that is now coming to an end and there are no deals i can get so i have to go onto the price cap. it was est
we begin in ukraine where we re getting a word about a new barrage of russian missile tryings in the south. ukraine says at least 10 millions admit mykolaiv sunday morning as the city still reels from similar strikes on friday. two industrial facilities were hit but no reports of casualties so far. ukraine says russia also fired five cruise missiles in the south but three were shot down. in the east, ukraine said fending off russian ground attacks in the donetsk region despite intense shelling, as in this town near the front line. meanwhile, russia s defense minister was in donbas on saturday ordering troops to increase operations to prevent ukrainian strikes in the region. ukraine s artillery has been stepping up attacks behind the front lines in recent weeks. president zelenskyy says his country is making progress and will keep up the momentum. here he is. translator: we have already managed to liberate part of the territory that was occupied after february 24th. we will
There s a new top dog. well, the world s oldest dog, that is. after only holding the crown for two weeks, spike the chiwawa, a 23-year-old mix from ohio, has been dethroned. meet bob, a the age of 30 years and 269 days, actually it s bobi. he s also the oldest dog to ever live, according to the book of world records. he lives in western portugal and was born in 1992. he has become less adventurous in his old age. he has difficulty walking, but his vet says he s doing well for his advanced age. 30 years old.
