NATIONAL NEWS - Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers said that it was pleasing to engage the Matzikama, Bergrivier, Saldanha Bay and Swartland municipalities over the last three days and to provide insight as to why his Department’s budget of more than R 2,35 billion for the 2021/22 financial year will empower the people of this province.
During these visits and accompanied by his senior executive officials, where they met with full Councils, Minister Simmers highlighted the refocused areas of the Department.
The primary focus is on creating opportunities in the affordable housing market, as more than 70% of the province’s citizens are employed and would in all likelihood not qualify for a free fully subsidised housing opportunity, as their household income could be between R 3 501 – R 22 000.
