At the May 10 Rotary Club of Kirksville meeting, Rotarian Melissa Stuart presented a $750 scholarship to Wesley McGinnis, a Brashear High School senior. The student introduced his mother, Diane McGinnis, and said he plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla to study mechanical engineering with a goal of working in the automotive industry. The Ray Klinginsmith Graduating High School Student Scholarship is awarded by the Rotary Club of Kirksville in honor of Ray Klinginsmith, a member of their club who served as president of Rotary International from 2010 to 2011. The club awards two Klinginsmith scholarships per year to graduating seniors in Adair County. Criteria for the $750 scholarships include academic excellence, service and leadership in the school and community, an understanding of Rotary s motto, "Service Above Self," financial need and letters of recommendation from teachers, employers or others who know the applicant well. ....
