I can still clearly remember the moment I fell in love with games. I was playing Portal 2, and coming to the supposedly final confrontation with GlaDOS. I thought I was getting to the end of the game. I thought it was almost over. And then it wasn't over at all, was it? One quick betrayal later and you're falling through all the floors of Aperture Science only to discover a whole other, even more ingenious layer to the game. I was enamoured. I was stunned that games could take me on such an incredible and unexpected journey and recounting that moment still makes me smirk.From then on, you would frequently find me flicking through the preowned titles in gaming shops. In 2002 Rockstar followed up the modern day Grand Theft Auto 3 with the beachy neon 1986 throwback Vice City. If they chose to make GTA 6 a period piece by rewinding the clock the same number of years, we'd be looking at. 2006, not long before GTA 4 came out. Hopefully the next Grand Theft Auto won't make us feel the grim march of time that acutely, but hopefully it will have a creative setting that takes us away from Liberty City or San Andreas.We now know that Grand Theft Auto 6 is well into development, but its setting is still a total mystery. Rockstar has finally confirmed what we all knew in our hearts: a new Grand Theft Auto is on the way. "We are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway," teased Rockstar in a new community update. That was it: no other details or dates. We know it's happening, then, but otherwise we're free to speculate on what GTA 6 could—perhaps should—be.Where will GTA 6 be set?
