The Houston Independent School District (HISD) has released its 2022-2023 school year ratings along with a list of schools joining the New Education System (NES) based on the district's evaluation.
A woman was killed overnight after police said her car crashed into a tree and caught on fire after fireworks that were in the trunk went off in southwest Houston.
Louie Welch Middle School was placed on lockdown "s a precautionary measure while police investigated suspicious activity in the area," a statement from the district read.
