Vaccines for COVID-19 are still being offered for free in Madison County, and a spokesperson with the Health Department says they remain busy. Appointments are preferred to help with planning, but walk-ins are welcome at the mass vaccination site in Collinsville, and you don’t have to work or live in Madison County to get a shot there.
Madison County Health Department Spokesperson Amy Yeager tells the Big Z while some sites in other counties have seen a slowing of those wanting the vaccine, she does not believe they have plateaued in Collinsville.

Vaccination clinics are available:
• In Collinsville: May 1-4 at the Gateway Convention Center, 1 Gateway Drive, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early appointments are offered 6:30-9 a.m. May 3, as well as late appointments 5-7 p.m.
• In Hamel: May 4, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Hamel Community Center, 10 Park Ave.
• In Bethalto: May 7, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bethalto American Legion, 109 S. Prairie St.
• In Edwardsville: May 7, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by the Edwardsville American Legion, at the On the Hill Golf Course, 58 Illinois 157.
• In Highland: May 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Weinheimer Community Center, 1100 Main St.
