SAN ANGELO The source of what contaminated the water in San Angelo s PaulAnn neighborhood and northern industrial zone may never be known, according to officials during a Tuesday city council meeting.
On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Water Utilities Director Allison Strube gave what the city called a final update about the ongoing water crisis, in which some pockets of San Angelo haven t been able to use city water in about two months.
The city issued a do-not-use water advisory across San Angelo in February after multiple residents in the PaulAnn neighborhood complained of a strong chemical odor dripping from their taps. Laboratory tests later confirmed dangerous levels of benzene, acetone, and naphthalene were in the water. ....

SAN ANGELO Less than a gallon s worth of chemicals spilling down the drain last month may have caused San Angelo s worst infrastructure crisis in recent memory, according to a statement by city officials Tuesday.
On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Water Utilities Director Allison Strube briefed council members after a closed executive session concerning San Angelo s ongoing water woes.
High levels of contaminants, which included benzene, acetone and naphthalene, were discovered dripping from faucets in San Angelo s PaulAnn neighborhood in February. The contamination led to a citywide do not use water advisory. While restrictions have eased for most of San Angelo, it s still too dangerous in some parts of the city to drink, cook or consume the water. ....
