ROUND LAKE Workers removing a gas tank from a car sparked a Wednesday afternoon fire that gutted a portion of Heath Auto’s repair shop on the southwest side of Round Lake.
Fire Chief Mike Smith, who actually works for Heath Auto’s used car dealership and shop on the northeast corner of town, said smoke was billowing from the roof of the shop when firefighters arrived shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The shop is located near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Wass Avenue, and formerly owned by Smith Trucking.
