The statements surround the fallout from a road rage incident off of one of the most heavily trafficked roadways in the state. The Rutherford County Sheriff s Office says in June, former Decherd Police Officer Mathew Ward who was off duty and more than 50 miles outside of his jurisdiction held a driver at gunpoint using his police-issued service weapon.

Documents obtained by NewsChannel 5 through a Freedom of Information Act request shed new, specific light on former Decherd police officer Mathew Ward s work history.

Deputies say Ward was off duty and far outside of his jurisdiction of the Franklin County town of Decherd when it happened. Cell phone video shows the incident taking place off I-24 in Rutherford county, with Ward driving a truck with Arkansas tags.
Officer road rage incident
The animal was badly injured by the time people were able to get Woodyatt to stop the cart and later died from what were described as heat-related symptoms.
Woodyatt was scheduled to be tried on felony cruelty to animal and misdemeanor resisting arrest charges Dec. 14. The case against him was dropped Dec. 8.
Woodyatt also was facing misdemeanor battery charges for throwing a bucket of paint at a neighbor in a separate incident. That charge also will be dropped, Marcille said.
