welcome to our viewers here in the u.s. and around the world. i m natalie allen. and i m george howell. from cnn world headquarters, newsroom starts right now. it is 4:00 saturday afternoon in singapore and ten days from now, history is set to unfold there . that s right, the summit between donald trump and kim jung-un, that is back on. president trump made the announcement on friday. this after an unprecedented meeting at the white house, he and the number two-man in north korea, that country s former spy chief met face-to-face in the oval office. that man kim yong-chol hand delivered a personal letter from the north korean leader. jim acosta reports from the white house. reporter: after meeting more than an hour with the north korean envoy carrying a letter from dictator kim jung-un, president trump emerged from the oval office and declared the summit he canceled last week back on. i think it is a getting to know you meeting plus. we ll see where it leads, but
it is now krumpl time with just ten days until the two leaders meet face-to-face in singapore. the harsh rhetoric starting to soften once again. north korea s ex-spy chief personally developing a letter from king jong-un to president trump in the oval office. the secret service carefully examining that letter for anything potentially dangerous before it s presented. both countries with a lot on the line for the highly anticipated meeting. it will be a beginning. you re talking about years of hostility, years of problems. years of really hatred between so many different nations. but i think you re going to have a very positive result in the end. not from one meeting. i didn t cancel a meeting. i canceled it in response to a very tough statement, and i think we re over that, totally over that, and now we re going to deal and we re going to really start a process. do you believe kim is committed to denuclearization? yes, i believe so. he wants to be careful. he wants to be
the really spectacular number that has gone all the way down to 3.8%. the last time we saw 3.8% was in early 2000, before that 1969. there are about 6 million open jobs in america, there are about five or six million workers who haven t re-entered the work market. that s a little bit of a point that you want to start to get to fix. overall, a very strong employment report, something that economists call full employment. wages up 2.7%, that might indicate that now what we have been hearing from employers, they re paying up for the workers they re getting. where are the jobs coming in? retail, health care, across the health care spectrum we have seen jobs for several years now and manufacturing. that is interesting. what is the reaction to the tariffs? the tariffs is something that is really concerning to a lot of people who are, you know, invested in the markets, doing business in the markets because you have america, the united states sort of going at it with allies on tr
