The distraught mother of slain Shamar Antonio Lynch said only Jesus could be better to her than he was.
Surrounded by family in her Walkes Spring, St Thomas home yesterday, Sonia Lynch remembered a man who loved sports and his family.
Police reported that Shamar was liming at St Ann’s Road, Pinelands, St Michael, around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night when a gunman burst through a nearby gate and engaged him in a brief scuffle before opening fire.

A man who succumbed to gunshot wounds at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) on Wednesday night has been identified as Shamar Antonio Lynch, 31, of Walkes Spring, St Thomas.
Police say Lynch was shot at St Ann’s Road, Pinelands, St Michael around 10:38 p.m.
When patrols responded to the area, one unit encountered the injured man about to be taken to the QEH in a private car and police escorted the vehicle to the hospital. However, within moments of arriving, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
