The April 16 USG meeting saw discussion over a new proposal to increase the student government’s engagement with the student body, and continued debate over a bid to increase student activities fees.
In Sunday’s USG meeting, Vice President of Campus Life, W. Rochelle Calhoun and Assistant Vice President for Public Safety, Ken Strother addressed questions about new, controversial campus safety policies, which call for the installation of new security cameras at all exterior doorways. The event was protested by a representative from Students for Prison Education, Abolition, and Reform (SPEAR).
USG continued conversations around mental health and budget concerns in its weekly meeting. The Senate also approved a Conservation Society summit and converted the Menstrual Products Task Force to an ad hoc committee.
At its Feb.13 meeting, the USG approved a $290,000 budget and Treasurer Walker Penfield ’25 explained that he plans to tap into additional reserve funds. The USG also approved the Ad Hoc Committees on Student Disciplinary Processes and Data Analysis.
