Run for Manchester donkeys in the world’s biggest marathon Date published: 08 May 2021 Runners at a previous London Marathon The Donkey Sanctuary is inviting people to become part of its intrepid team of runners in this year’s London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, October 3.  With four participants already signed up, the international animal welfare charity, which has a sanctuary in nearby Abbey Hey, has five places still available for the Virgin Money London Marathon, with another five places available in the Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon.  Now in its second year, the virtual event will see 50,000 participants around the globe join the 50,000 runners on the streets of London in the world’s biggest-ever marathon.

Eden Valley Hospice Carlisle secure place in London marathon

SUPPORT: Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw is looking for people to take on the Virgin Money London Marathon A Carlisle charity is celebrating, after securing a small number of places in the world’s biggest marathon. Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice have received a limited number of places for both the Virgin Money London Marathon and Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon, with both events taking place on Sunday, October 3. The Durdar Road charity is now looking for people to take on the 26.2 mile challenge in its 30th anniversary year. Eleanor Viney, fundraising manager, said: “ For many people a marathon is a daunting challenge but by signing up you will be embarking on a journey knowing you are helping a person in our local community to receive the very best care, support and compassion when they need it the most.
