I think the reason why some of these have stuck around all the time, as youve said, theyre really politically intractable. But in some sense theres a reason for that, and maybe its not necessarily a bad thing. I mean, the other option is to have absolutely no regulation, right, at the extreme so that theres no conflict over what that regulation and anything goes. And if thats not what were trying to set up, a sort of superregulatory council that can sort of whackamole and bat down anything that is not the least trade restrictive model, thats where youre getting political pushback be. And thats the idea that, you know, citizens want to be able to have some say in what their economy looks like. And in some senses, you know, some citizens want greater Government Intervention in the economy. Cato would say less Government Intervention in the economy.
