Seven candidates are looking to win nominations for State College Area School District Board of Directors in the 2021 primary election.`
Four positions, each with a four-year term, are up for election this year. Each candidate is cross-filed on the Democratic and Republican ballots for the primary. Up to four candidates will be nominated on each ballot to advance to the November election.
Just one incumbent, David Hutchinson, is seeking reelection.
StateCollege.com editor Geoff Rushton interviewed the candidates for C-NET. Videos of each of the interviews and brief candidate information appear below.
Candidates discussed why they are running, the biggest challenges facing the district, charter school funding and oversight reforms, inclusivity and equity, the district’s COVID-19 response, budgets, taxes and more.
