Vegetable Prices: Tomatoes sold for Rs 4 to Rs 10 a kilo last year in the wholesale market. This year, they cost Rs 8 to Rs 25. Almost all vegetables have seen a 20% to 150% spike in wholesale prices. Consequently, retails prices too have remained high, nearly double the wholesale price.
“The near-term outlook is masked by risks to food inflation which might lead to an inflation uptick in November and December. This needs to be watched for second round effects, if any,” Das said.
