In late October, the city council in Mukachevo, in Zakarpattia region, installed one of Ukraine’s most recognised symbols, the tryzub (trident) in the town’s landmark tenth-century Palanok castle. The tryzub, representing historical heroism, has extra weight in today’s Ukraine as the country fights for its sovereignty in the wake of Russia’s invasion.
