COVID PATIENT LEAVES TREATMENT CENTRE WITHOUT PERMISSION COVID PATIENT LEAVES TREATMENT CENTRE WITHOUT PERMISSION Written by Share: COLOMBO (News 1st): A 43-year-old COVID-19 patient had left the Punani COVID-19 treatment facility on Tuesday (Jan. 19) without authorization, Sri Lanka Police said on Wednesday (Jan. 20). “43-year-old Shelton Premaratne of No. 649B, Andagala, Eheliyagoda has escaped from the Punani Treatment Centre, which is located in the Valaichchenai Police area, yesterday evening at 7:30 pm,” Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said. According to the Deputy Police Chief, the patient had tested positive for COVID-19 on the 13th of January in Kolonnawa, where he was transferred to the Treatment Centre on the 17th of January.

Share: COLOMBO (News 1st): The 43-year-old COVID-19 patient who left the Punani COVID-19 Treatment Facility in Valaichchenai on Tuesday evening (Jan. 19), was located in Eheliayagoda on Wednesday morning, (Jan. 20), Sri Lanka Police said. “The Eheliyagoda Police had arrested the patient at around 8:30 this morning in Palpitiya of the Eheliyagoda Police jurisdiction, and he will be transferred to a Treatment Facility,” Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said on Wednesday (Jan. 20). Sri Lanka Police are currently investigating the route taken by the patient to travel from Valaichchenai to Eheliyagoda. “Once the treatment process concludes, legal action will be taken against the patient under the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance,” the Deputy Police Chief emphasized.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the medical officer of the treatment center “The patients were scheduled to be released on the 12th of December. However, they have not been released by the chief medical officer of the treatment centre following the incident,” he said.
